I wrote this album when I was living alone at my family's lakefront property outside Seattle. I was alone nearly every day, morning until night, reading philosophy and trying to come to terms with my relationship to the Catholicism i was raised with. I'd always been skeptical, but still felt this yearning. I thought, what if in his moments of spiritual doubt Jesus had picked up a guitar and sang. What would he write? This album is the product of my speculations. it is both ironic and entirely heartfelt.
